It is a nice winter morning when scientist Karlis Dravins wakes up and goes to get his mail from the postbox next to his house. As he walks back he notices footprints in the snow and starts to walk in circles trying to understand what may have left then - a starfish, a burglar, a moonstruck parrot, or something else? The more he thinks and the more he walks the bigger grows the number of footprints left in the snow.
When Karlis Dravins gets to the number 10 he is so scared of what may have left so many footprints, that runs back to his house and hides under the blanket - sometimes it is better not to make the discovery.
Mārtiņš Zutis was born in Riga in Latvia in June of 1988. He is the owner of an exact mind and irrational image and master of a gentle line. Together, they are transformed into the usual characters that populate his comic books, animation, and illustrations. „The Discovery That Never Was” granted him International Baltic Sea Region Jānis Baltvilks Prize in Children’s Literature and Book Art for best debut.
